Today, at the GM Chamber of Commerce, I met Sajjad Karim, Member of European Parliament, elected in North West of England for Conservative party. We discussed about what are the implications of Brexit and what should the UK’s priorities be in the negotiations leading to it. Besides its consequences for the trade relationship between Italy and UK and of freedom of movements for the Italians in UK. I also highlighted that around Manchester and North West there is a big community of honest and very active Italian workers, worried for their future in UK and also that Italian entrepreneurs who invest in Britain want to be reassured. British MEP reiterated that there cannot be a single market without freedom of movement and that the British Government wants to remain in the single market. Oggi, presso la Camera di Commercio di Manchester, ho incontrato Sajjad Karim, deputato del Parlamento europeo, eletto nel collegio Nord Ovest per il partito Conservatore.
Si e’ discusso di Brexit e delle conseguenze per le relazioni commerciali tra Italia e Uk e della liberta’ di movimento per I cittadini Italiani in Gran Bretagna. Ho evidenziato che a Manchester, come nel Nord Ovest c’e’ una grande comunita’ di onesti e laboriosi lavoratori Italiani, preoccupati per il loro futuro in Gran Bretagna, cosi’ come tanti imprenditori che investono in Uk e che vogliono essere tranquillizzati. Il deputato britannico ha ribadito che non vi puo’ essere un mercato unico senza la liberta’ di movimento e che il Governo Britannico vuole rimanre nel mercato unico.
